WKAG-CA

WKAG-CA was a low-power television station licensed to Hopkinsville, Kentucky. It operated on UHF channel 43. The station was owned by Christian Broadcasting Corporation of Hopkinsville.

WKAG-CA was a repeater station of WKAG-TV (channel 43, now WDKA), the CBS affiliate for Paducah, Kentucky; Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and Harrisburg, Illinois. This meant that WKAG-CA essentially rebroadcast the signal of WKAG-TV, extending its reach to areas around Hopkinsville. This was particularly useful because UHF signals have a shorter range than VHF signals, and the hilly terrain in western Kentucky could interfere with reception.

The "CA" suffix in the call sign indicates that it was a Class A television station. Class A stations had certain regulatory protections designed to prevent them from being displaced by full-power stations. These protections have since been modified and are less relevant in the digital television era.

WKAG-CA eventually ceased broadcasting, and its license was cancelled. The exact date of cancellation and reasons for it are not readily available in common broadcast databases.
