Tumsisiro

Tumsisiro (also potentially romanized as Tumusisiro) is a Luganda word, a language spoken in Uganda. It refers to the African clawless otter (Aonyx capensis). The word is specifically the name used to identify this otter species within the Luganda-speaking regions. The African clawless otter is a semi-aquatic mammal found near freshwater habitats throughout sub-Saharan Africa. In Luganda culture, like many others, animals often have specific local names rooted in observation of their behavior, habitat, or physical characteristics.
