Thomas Cartwright (politician)

Thomas Cartwright (1795-1850) was a British politician. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Northamptonshire South from 1832 until his death in 1850.

Cartwright came from a landed gentry family in Northamptonshire. He was the son of William Ralph Cartwright, also an MP for Northamptonshire, and his wife, the daughter of the first Earl of Bridgewater. He was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford.

His political affiliation was Conservative. He was known as a staunch supporter of agricultural interests and a defender of the Corn Laws. He was generally considered a quiet and conscientious MP, focusing on local and regional issues relevant to his constituents.

He married Mary Anne Nash, daughter of Richard Nash, in 1830. They had several children.
