The plot centers around Luke Malloy (Panettiere), a young boy who is dreading the end of summer and the start of middle school. Each loop allows him to correct past mistakes and try new experiences. However, he soon realizes that reliving the same day over and over has consequences, particularly affecting his friendships with his best friend, Spider (Dillon), and a newcomer named Ants (Baker). The film explores themes of friendship, growing up, and accepting change. Eventually, Luke learns the importance of moving forward and embracing new experiences, even if they are uncertain.
