Tension (Taiwanese band)
Tension was a Taiwanese-American R&B vocal group active in the early 2000s. Formed in 2001, the group consisted of five members: Raymond "Ray" Daniels, John "Johntae" Thomas, Brian "Byron" Fiol, Tony Parker, and Li Shengjie (李聖傑), although Li Shengjie left shortly after the group's formation to pursue a solo career.
Tension was known for their close harmonies, soulful vocals, and contemporary R&B sound, distinguishing them from the prevalent Mandopop boy bands of the time. Their music incorporated both English and Mandarin lyrics.
They released four studio albums during their active years: "Smart" (2001), "Gotta Be Your Man" (2003), "Fantasy" (2004), and "Story" (2006). Their popular songs include "Say Goodbye" (說,再見), "Goodbye Is Not Forever" (對你的愛), and "She's Having My Baby" (奇蹟).
Tension disbanded in 2006, with members citing personal reasons and desires to pursue individual careers as the primary motivations. After the group's disbandment, members pursued various paths, including solo music careers, music production, and other business ventures. Although their time in the spotlight was relatively short, Tension left a significant mark on the Taiwanese music scene and are remembered for their unique blend of R&B and Mandarin pop.
