Sekstet
A sekstet (also spelled sextet) is a musical ensemble consisting of six performers. The term is also used to refer to a musical composition written for six performers.
The instruments involved in a sekstet can vary widely, including vocal ensembles, instrumental ensembles, or a combination of both. Common instrumental configurations include string sekstets (e.g., two violins, two violas, and two cellos), wind sekstets, and ensembles featuring a mix of wind and string instruments. Vocal sekstets often consist of two sopranos, two altos, a tenor, and a bass, or variations thereof.
In musical theater and opera, a sekstet is a scene or number performed by six characters.
The term "sekstet" can also, more rarely, refer to any group of six related items or people, though this usage is less common than in music.
