Saguenay (Province of Canada electoral district)
Saguenay was a provincial electoral district in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec, Canada. It was created in 1939 from parts of the former Chicoutimi and Dubuc electoral districts.
The district was named for the Saguenay River. Its boundaries underwent several revisions throughout its existence, reflecting population changes within the region.
Saguenay primarily encompassed the city of Saguenay (formerly Chicoutimi) and its surrounding areas. Its economy was historically linked to industries such as aluminum production, forestry, and tourism.
The riding was represented in the National Assembly of Quebec by Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) elected through the first-past-the-post system.
Saguenay ceased to exist following the 2012 electoral map redistribution. It was largely replaced by the electoral districts of Chicoutimi and Dubuc.
