Robin Thede
Robin Thede (born March 3, 1982) is an American comedian, actress, writer, producer, and showrunner. She is best known for creating and starring in the BET late-night talk show The Rundown with Robin Thede and the HBO comedy series A Black Lady Sketch Show.
Thede began her career in comedy as a writer and performer at The Second City in Chicago. She then went on to write for several television shows, including The Queen Latifah Show, Real Husbands of Hollywood, and @midnight.
In 2015, Thede became the first African-American woman to be head writer for a late-night talk show, The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.
The Rundown with Robin Thede premiered on BET in 2017. The show featured Thede's unique perspective on current events and pop culture, as well as interviews with celebrities and politicians.
In 2019, A Black Lady Sketch Show, created by and starring Thede, premiered on HBO. The show features an all-Black female cast and explores a variety of topics through sketch comedy. A Black Lady Sketch Show has received critical acclaim and has won multiple Primetime Emmy Awards.
Thede has also appeared in several films and television shows, including Key & Peele, Transparent, and Boomerang. She is a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry.
