Rebecca Evans (soprano)

Rebecca Evans (born August 9, 1963) is a Welsh operatic soprano, renowned for her interpretations of Mozart, Strauss, and bel canto roles. Born in Pontrhydyfen, Wales, she studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

Evans began her professional career in the early 1990s and quickly gained recognition for her vocal purity, expressive phrasing, and stage presence. She has performed at leading opera houses worldwide, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna State Opera, and the Salzburg Festival.

Her repertoire encompasses a wide range of roles, including Susanna ( The Marriage of Figaro), Pamina (The Magic Flute), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Zdenka (Arabella), and Norina (Don Pasquale). She is particularly celebrated for her performances of Mozart heroines and her command of bel canto style.

Evans is a highly respected recording artist with a discography that includes numerous opera recordings and solo albums. She was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2000 for her services to music.
