Raceland (horse)

Raceland was an American Thoroughbred racehorse, foaled in 1948. He was bred and owned by Mrs. Thomas Piatt. He was a chestnut colt sired by Ariel out of the mare Rosalie, by Pompey.

Raceland is best known for winning the 1951 Preakness Stakes. He was ridden by jockey Ted Atkinson. While not considered a top contender leading up to the race, Raceland defeated heavily favored Bold and other notable horses to claim victory.

Following his Preakness win, Raceland continued to race, but did not achieve similar success in other major stakes races. His overall racing record includes wins in several allowance races and stakes races in addition to the Preakness.

After retiring from racing, Raceland stood at stud. Information regarding his success as a sire is limited.

While Raceland's career was relatively short and he didn't dominate the racing scene, his Preakness Stakes victory secures his place in racing history.
