Olympic Park Stadium (Melbourne)

Olympic Park Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium located within the Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Precinct in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was primarily used for athletics, soccer, and rugby league. Originally constructed as an athletics venue for the 1956 Summer Olympics, it later served as the home ground for several soccer clubs, including Melbourne Victory and Melbourne Heart (now Melbourne City). It also hosted rugby league matches, including international fixtures.

The stadium had a capacity of approximately 18,500 spectators. While it was considered a historic sporting venue, its facilities became increasingly outdated compared to newer stadiums in Melbourne.

Olympic Park Stadium was demolished in 2012 to make way for a new training facility for Melbourne City FC. The site is now occupied by the City Football Academy, Melbourne. The location remains a part of the larger Olympic Park precinct, but the original stadium is no longer standing.

The demolition of the stadium was met with some controversy, particularly from athletics enthusiasts who felt it represented a loss of a significant sporting landmark.
