Nor Lines
Nor Lines (originally Hurtigruten ASA Cargo) was a Norwegian shipping company specializing in freight transport along the Norwegian coast. It operated a network of cargo vessels connecting ports from Hammerfest in the north to Oslo in the south, and also included some international routes.
The company offered a range of logistics services, including port-to-port transport, door-to-door delivery, and warehousing. It catered to diverse industries, such as seafood, manufacturing, and construction, carrying goods that needed reliable and frequent transport along the coast.
Nor Lines distinguished itself through its use of environmentally friendly technology, including LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) powered vessels, aiming to reduce emissions and minimize its environmental impact.
In 2014, Hurtigruten ASA sold Nor Lines to DSD (Det Stavangerske Dampskibsselskap), a Norwegian investment company.
In 2017, Nor Lines changed its name to NorthSea Container Line AS.
In 2021, NorthSea Container Line AS was acquired by Samskip, an Icelandic transport company. Samskip integrated the Nor Lines activities into its existing operations, thus effectively ending the independent existence of Nor Lines under its former name. The name Nor Lines may still be used in some contexts within the Samskip organization, but as a brand rather than a separate company.
