Moukhtara
Moukhtara (also sometimes spelled Mukhtara or Mokhtara) is a town located in the Chouf District of Mount Lebanon Governorate, Lebanon. It is historically significant as the ancestral home of the Jumblatt family, a prominent Druze political dynasty in Lebanon.
The town's importance stems from its longstanding association with the Jumblatt family, who have traditionally held significant influence within the Druze community and Lebanese politics more broadly. Walid Jumblatt, a prominent Lebanese politician, continues to reside in Moukhtara.
Moukhtara features traditional Lebanese architecture and is known for its relatively rural setting compared to other parts of Lebanon. The area around Moukhtara is primarily agricultural. The town's history is intertwined with the broader history of the Chouf region and its Druze inhabitants.
