Medkila
Medkila is a district and borough located in Harstad municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. Situated on the island of Hinnøya, it lies just west of the city of Harstad itself.
Historically, Medkila was a separate village and part of the former municipality of Sandtorg. Sandtorg was merged into Harstad municipality in 1964, bringing Medkila under the Harstad administration.
Medkila is primarily a residential area. It is also known locally for the Medkila IL (Idrettslag), a sports club, particularly recognized for its women's football team. The club has a history of playing in the top tiers of Norwegian women's football.
The area features both detached houses and apartment buildings, reflecting a mixture of older and newer development. Its proximity to Harstad makes it a convenient location for residents who work or study in the city.
Topographically, Medkila features coastal landscapes and views of the surrounding waterways. It is connected to Harstad and other parts of Hinnøya by road.
