Marcos Alonso (footballer, born 1959)
Marcos Alonso Peña (born 1 October 1959) is a Spanish former professional footballer and manager. Primarily a winger, he also played as a forward.
Alonso spent the majority of his playing career with Atlético Madrid and FC Barcelona, amassing La Liga totals of 302 games and 46 goals over 15 seasons. He also represented Spain at the 1982 FIFA World Cup.
After retiring as a player, Alonso embarked on a managerial career, coaching numerous clubs in Spain, predominantly in the lower leagues. He held positions at Rayo Vallecano, Racing de Santander, Sevilla FC, Atlético Madrid (youth team), Real Murcia, and several other teams.
He is the father of Marcos Alonso Mendoza, who also played professional football, and the son of Marcos Alonso Imaz, another footballer.
