Glentanner (ship)
The Glentanner was a British cargo ship built by William Hamilton and Company of Port Glasgow, Scotland, and launched in 1910. She was owned by T. & J. Harrison and Co. of Liverpool. The Glentanner primarily operated on trade routes between the United Kingdom and South America, specifically Argentina.
During World War I, the Glentanner served as a transport ship, carrying troops and supplies.
In 1942, while sailing in the Atlantic Ocean, the Glentanner was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-201. The sinking resulted in significant loss of life among the crew and passengers. The location of the sinking was approximately 400 nautical miles west-northwest of Ireland.
