Majorette (toy manufacturer)

Majorette is a French toy manufacturer, primarily known for producing die-cast toy vehicles, including cars, trucks, and other scale models. Founded in 1961 by Émile Véron, the company initially produced model railways and accessories under the name Rail-Route. In 1964, they shifted their focus to die-cast vehicles, adopting the Majorette brand name.

Majorette vehicles are typically made of die-cast metal bodies with plastic bases and interiors. They are recognized for their detailed designs, realistic paint schemes, and affordability, making them popular among children and collectors alike.

Throughout its history, Majorette has created a wide variety of models, representing vehicles from different eras and manufacturers. They have also produced licensed models based on real-world cars, trucks, and other vehicles.

In 1986, Majorette acquired the Solido toy company. However, Majorette experienced financial difficulties in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The company was subsequently acquired by different owners, including Ideal Loisirs and later Smoby.

As of the present day, Majorette is owned by the Simba Dickie Group. The brand continues to produce die-cast vehicles, maintaining a presence in the toy market and remaining a recognizable name in the world of model cars. The Simba Dickie Group has revitalized the brand, introducing new models and product lines, while also preserving some of the classic designs that made Majorette popular in the first place. The brand has also expanded its reach through partnerships and collaborations, broadening its product offerings beyond solely die-cast cars.
