Mae Young Classic (2018)
The Mae Young Classic (2018) was the second annual single-elimination women's professional wrestling tournament produced by WWE for its WWE Network brand. The tournament featured 32 female competitors from around the world, representing a diverse range of wrestling styles and experience levels.
The tournament was taped on August 8 and 9, 2018, at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. The first round of the tournament was made available on the WWE Network on September 5, 2018. Subsequent rounds were released weekly, culminating in the finals which took place at WWE Evolution on October 28, 2018.
Toni Storm won the tournament, defeating Io Shirai in the final match. The tournament aimed to showcase the depth and talent within women's wrestling globally, providing a platform for established and emerging stars to compete. Many of the participants went on to further success within WWE, including NXT and the main roster. The commentary team consisted of Michael Cole, Beth Phoenix, and Renee Young. The tournament followed a similar format to the previous year's Mae Young Classic, emphasizing international representation and diverse wrestling backgrounds.
