Krystal (film)

Krystal is a 2017 American comedy-drama film directed by William H. Macy and written by Will Aldis. The film stars Rosario Dawson, Nick Robinson, Grant Gustin, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, and Kathy Bates.

The plot follows Taylor Ogburn (Nick Robinson), a sheltered and overly imaginative young man who has a crush on Krystal (Rosario Dawson), a former drug addict and exotic dancer whom he meets after she's injured in a car accident. He pretends to be an alcoholic in order to get closer to her by attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings with her, and hilarity and romance ensue as their relationship develops, navigating the complexities of addiction, recovery, and self-discovery.

The film premiered at the Virginia Film Festival in November 2017 and was released in theaters in April 2018. Reviews were generally mixed, with critics noting both the comedic elements and the film's handling of sensitive subject matter.
