Joy Reid
Joy-Ann M. Lomena-Reid (born December 8, 1968), most commonly known as Joy Reid, is an American cable television host, MSNBC political analyst, and author. She hosts The ReidOut, a weeknight news and political commentary program on MSNBC.
Reid began her career in journalism as a freelance columnist in South Florida and later worked in radio. She served as managing editor of The Miami Herald's online blog from 2000 to 2002. She then transitioned to political commentary, hosting a radio program and working on political campaigns.
Reid joined MSNBC in 2011 as a contributor and later became the host of her own daytime news program, AM Joy, which ran from 2016 to 2020. In July 2020, she was named the host of The ReidOut, making her the first Black woman to host a primetime news show on MSNBC.
Reid is known for her progressive political views and commentary on race, gender, and politics in the United States. She has authored several books, including Fracture: Barack Obama, the Clintons, and the Racial Divide (2015) and Medgar and Myrlie: Medgar Evers and the Love Story That Awakened America (2024). She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work in journalism and political commentary.
