Jonas Eriksson (referee)
Jonas Eriksson (born March 28, 1974) is a Swedish former football referee and businessman. He officiated in numerous high-profile matches, including UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches, international friendlies, and FIFA World Cup qualifiers and tournaments.
Eriksson began his refereeing career at a young age and quickly progressed through the ranks in Swedish football. He became a FIFA-listed referee in 2002, enabling him to officiate international matches.
Throughout his career, Eriksson was known for his strong presence on the field and his consistent application of the Laws of the Game. He was selected to officiate at several major tournaments, including the 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine, the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, and the 2016 European Championships in France. He refereed the 2016 UEFA Europa League Final between Liverpool and Sevilla.
Beyond his refereeing career, Eriksson is also a successful businessman. He made his fortune in media rights sales, selling his stake in a sports media rights company in 2007.
Eriksson retired from refereeing in 2018.
