John McFarlane (Australian politician)
John McFarlane (born 1942) is an Australian politician. He was a Labor Party member of the Australian Senate for Queensland from 1999 to 2005.
McFarlane entered the Senate on 30 June 1999, filling a casual vacancy caused by the resignation of Senator John Black. Prior to entering politics, McFarlane worked as a trade union official with the Federated Clerks Union (now part of the Australian Services Union).
During his time in the Senate, McFarlane served on various Senate committees, including committees related to employment, workplace relations, and education. He was known for his advocacy on issues affecting workers and his commitment to social justice.
McFarlane did not re-contest his Senate seat at the 2004 federal election. His term concluded on 30 June 2005. Since leaving parliament, he has remained active in community affairs and Labor Party circles in Queensland.
