Jim Carter (baseball)
James Edward Carter (born October 20, 1953) is a former professional baseball player. He played primarily as a first baseman in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1976 to 1987.
Carter was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 1st round (13th overall) of the 1971 MLB June Amateur Draft. He began his MLB career with the Cubs in 1976. He was then traded to the Montreal Expos in 1977. He spent the majority of his MLB career with the Expos, playing with them until 1984. After being released by the Expos, he signed with the Milwaukee Brewers, playing for them in 1984 and 1985. He concluded his MLB career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1987.
Carter was known for his strong defensive skills at first base. His offensive statistics include a career batting average of .245, with 38 home runs and 235 RBIs in 705 games played.
