Jason Hughes (actor)

Jason Hughes (born December 18, 1971) is a Welsh actor best known for his television work, particularly his role as Detective Sergeant Ben Jones in the British crime drama Midsomer Murders.

Hughes was born in Porthcawl, Wales. He trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

Prior to Midsomer Murders, Hughes appeared in numerous television series and films, including This Life, Casualty, Peak Practice, The Bill, and Killing Me Softly. He joined Midsomer Murders in 2005, replacing Daniel Casey as the junior detective alongside John Nettles as DCI Tom Barnaby. He remained on the show until 2013, appearing alongside Neil Dudgeon who replaced Nettles in 2011.

After leaving Midsomer Murders, Hughes continued to work in television, theatre, and film. His stage credits include appearances in productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre Wales. He has also appeared in series such as Death in Paradise and Three Girls.
