Jason Demetriou (rugby league)

Jason Demetriou (born 18 November 1975) is an Australian professional rugby league football coach and former player. He is currently the head coach of the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the National Rugby League (NRL).

Prior to his head coaching role at South Sydney, Demetriou served as an assistant coach for several NRL clubs, including the North Queensland Cowboys where he was part of the coaching staff that won the 2015 NRL Premiership. He also held assistant coaching positions at the Brisbane Broncos and St. George Illawarra Dragons. Before joining South Sydney as an assistant coach in 2019, he gained experience as a head coach in the Queensland Cup, leading the Northern Pride to a premiership victory in 2010 and the Norths Devils to a premiership in 2011.

As a player, Demetriou was a halfback. He played professionally in the United Kingdom for several clubs, including the Widnes Vikings, Rochdale Hornets, and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. He also had a brief stint with the Parramatta Eels in the NRL. He represented Greece in international rugby league.
