James Craig (actor)

James Craig (born James Henry Meador, Jr., February 4, 1912 – June 27, 1985) was an American actor. He is best known for his work in films such as Kitty Foyle (1940), Our Town (1940), The Devil and Daniel Webster (1941), The Human Comedy (1943), and Lost Angel (1943).

Craig began his acting career in the late 1930s, securing a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). He quickly rose to prominence, often playing strong, dependable characters, sometimes in supporting roles and sometimes as the leading man. He possessed a rugged, all-American look that made him a popular choice for war films, westerns, and dramas.

Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, Craig remained a busy actor, appearing in a wide variety of films. While never reaching the level of superstardom, he enjoyed a long and successful career in Hollywood.
