Amiloxate

Amiloxate is a chemical compound that has been investigated for its potential use as a sunscreen agent. It is an ester derivative combining salicylic acid and isoamyl alcohol. The molecule is designed to absorb ultraviolet (UV) radiation, thus protecting the skin from harmful sun exposure. Amiloxate primarily absorbs UVB rays, which are responsible for sunburn and contribute to skin cancer.

While amiloxate has demonstrated UV-absorbing properties, its use in commercial sunscreen products is not widespread and may be limited or prohibited in certain regions due to concerns regarding its safety profile or the availability of more effective and/or better-studied alternatives. Further research is necessary to fully assess its potential benefits and risks for topical application on human skin. Its effectiveness and safety must be established following established regulatory standards for sunscreen ingredients before widespread use can be considered.
