HMS Tiger

HMS Tiger was the name of several ships of the British Royal Navy, including:

• HMS Tiger (1546), a 22-gun ship launched in 1546.

• HMS Tiger (1647), a 38-gun ship captured from the Dutch in 1647 and sold in 1657.

• HMS Tiger (1747), a 14-gun sloop launched in 1747 and sold in 1762.

• HMS Tiger (1762), a 74-gun third-rate ship of the line launched in 1762. She participated in the American Revolutionary War and the French Revolutionary Wars. She was broken up in 1784, rebuilt in 1788, and renamed Grampus in 1802. She was wrecked in 1804.

• HMS Tiger (1794), a storeship purchased in 1794 and sold in 1797.

• HMS Tiger (1808), a 12-gun brig-sloop launched in 1808.

• HMS Tiger (1849), a wooden screw sloop launched in 1849. She was wrecked in the Black Sea during the Crimean War in 1854.

• HMS Tiger (1913), a battlecruiser launched in 1913 and participated in World War I, including the Battle of Dogger Bank and the Battle of Jutland. She was scrapped in 1932.

• HMS Tiger (C20), a Tiger-class cruiser launched in 1959 and decommissioned in 1978. She was sold for scrap in 1986.
