Evangelion (album)

Evangelion is the debut studio album by Polish extreme metal band Behemoth, released in 1999. While predating their later, more widely recognized blackened death metal style, Evangelion showcases elements of black metal and pagan metal, setting the stage for Behemoth's future evolution. It is considered a significant early work in the band's discography.

The album explores themes of occultism, anti-Christianity, and pagan mythology, lyrical subjects that would become increasingly prominent in Behemoth's subsequent releases. Musically, Evangelion features fast tempos, blast beats, and raw, aggressive vocals characteristic of the black metal genre. The album's production is less polished than Behemoth's later works, contributing to its darker and more primal atmosphere.
