Eric Wood (footballer)

Eric Wood (born March 18, 1986) is a former American football center who played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons, all with the Buffalo Bills. He was drafted by the Bills in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

Early Life and College Career

Wood was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Elder High School, where he was a standout football player. He played college football at the University of Louisville, where he was a four-year starter at center. He earned All-Big East honors multiple times and was recognized as one of the top centers in college football.

Professional Career

The Buffalo Bills selected Wood with the 28th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He quickly became a key member of the Bills' offensive line. Wood was known for his toughness, intelligence, and leadership. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2015.

Retirement

In January 2018, Wood was diagnosed with a career-ending neck injury during his physical. He announced his retirement from the NFL soon after.
