Douglass (lunar crater)

Douglass is a lunar impact crater that lies along the eastern rim of the larger crater Eratosthenes, in the western Mare Imbrium. It is named for the American astronomer Andrew Ellicott Douglass. It is located on a relatively level stretch of lunar mare, and its outer rim is only lightly worn.

The crater has a well-defined, circular rim with a relatively dark interior floor. A small central peak rises from the floor's center. There are no significant craters intersecting the rim or the interior, suggesting that Douglass is a relatively young crater.

The location of Douglass near the prominent Eratosthenes makes it a relatively easy feature to locate. Its dark floor provides a visual contrast with the lighter lunar surface.
