Clicks (South Africa)
Clicks is a South African retail chain specializing in healthcare, beauty, and pharmaceutical products. Founded in 1968 by Jack Goldin, initially as a drugstore, it faced challenges under apartheid laws restricting ownership of pharmacies to pharmacists. This led Clicks to initially operate as a "drugstore without drugs," focusing on beauty and health-related products.
Following the repeal of apartheid, Clicks was able to obtain pharmacy licenses and expanded its operations to include a full range of pharmaceutical services. Today, Clicks is one of the largest retail pharmacy chains in South Africa, offering a wide array of products and services including prescription medication, over-the-counter drugs, beauty products, toiletries, and health supplements.
Clicks also operates a loyalty program, Clicks ClubCard, which is a popular rewards program in South Africa. The company has a significant online presence and operates numerous retail stores across the country and in neighboring countries. Clicks Group Limited, the parent company of Clicks, is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). The brand is widely recognized and holds a significant market share in the South African retail pharmacy sector.
