Chief of the General Staff (Kingdom of Bavaria)

The Chief of the General Staff of the Kingdom of Bavaria (German: Chef des Generalstabes der Bayerischen Armee) was the head of the General Staff of the Bavarian Army. This position was responsible for the planning, training, and operations of the army. The office existed from the early 19th century until the end of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1918, when the Bavarian Army was fully integrated into the larger German Army. The Chief of the General Staff was a high-ranking officer, typically a General or Lieutenant General, and directly advised the War Minister and the King on military matters. The General Staff itself was responsible for a variety of functions including intelligence gathering, strategic planning, troop deployment, and logistical support.
