Chah Qazi
Chah Qazi is a neighborhood and union council located within the Landhi Town of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It is situated near the Malir River.
Historically, the area, like much of Landhi, was largely agricultural. Over time, it has seen increased urbanization and industrial development, driven by Karachi's growth. The population is diverse, comprising various ethnic groups commonly found in Karachi.
Chah Qazi likely gets its name from a well (Chah meaning well in Persian and Urdu) that was owned or associated with a Qazi (a Muslim judge). This well would have been a significant landmark in the area's early history, providing water for the community and its agricultural activities.
The area faces challenges common to many urban areas in Karachi, including issues related to infrastructure, sanitation, and access to resources. It also experiences the socio-economic complexities associated with rapid urbanization and diverse populations.
Administratively, Chah Qazi falls under the jurisdiction of the local government within Landhi Town, playing a role in Karachi's broader administrative structure. The union council serves as a basic unit for local governance and service delivery.
