Cabuyao
Cabuyao is a city in the province of Laguna, Philippines. It is located on the western shore of Laguna de Bay and is part of the CALABARZON region. Historically, Cabuyao was primarily an agricultural area, but it has experienced significant industrial and commercial growth in recent decades, transforming into a major economic hub.
The city is bordered by Santa Rosa City to the north, Calamba City to the east, Laguna de Bay to the west, and General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite to the south. Cabuyao plays a significant role in the industrial development of Laguna, hosting numerous manufacturing plants, business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, and other commercial establishments. This growth has led to a diverse population drawn from various parts of the Philippines.
Cabuyao became a city on May 16, 2012, through Republic Act No. 10163. Prior to this, it was a municipality. The city's name is believed to be derived from the kabuyao tree, a species of citrus.
