Bompreço

Bompreço was a major Brazilian supermarket chain. Founded in 1959 in Salvador, Bahia, it grew to become one of the largest retail networks in Northeast Brazil and a significant player nationally. The name "Bompreço" translates to "Good Price" in Portuguese, reflecting its initial focus on offering competitive pricing.

In 2004, Bompreço was acquired by Walmart Brasil. As a result of this acquisition and subsequent rebranding strategies by Walmart, the Bompreço brand gradually disappeared. Most of the stores were converted to Walmart's other brands in Brazil, such as Walmart Supercenter, Hiper Bompreço, and TodoDia. The Hiper Bompreço brand continued to operate for a longer period, largely retaining its regional identity in the Northeast. Eventually, these stores were also rebranded under the Walmart or BIG (after Walmart sold its Brazilian operations) banners. The Bompreço name, as a standalone brand, is no longer in active use as a retail chain in Brazil.
