Bei River

The Bei River (北江, Běi Jiāng), also known as the North River, is one of the three major tributaries of the Pearl River system in southern China. It flows primarily through Guangdong province. The river's source is in the Dayuling Mountains bordering Jiangxi and Guangdong. It converges with the Dong River (East River) and Xi River (West River) near Guangzhou to form the Pearl River Delta, which then flows into the South China Sea.

The Bei River is an important waterway for transportation and irrigation in the region. It is also a significant source of fresh water for the Pearl River Delta. Several major cities and towns are located along its banks, benefiting from its resources. Seasonal flooding has historically been a concern along the Bei River, leading to extensive efforts in flood control and water management.
