Andy McDonald (ice hockey)

Andy McDonald (born August 25, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played primarily as a center in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim/Anaheim Ducks, St. Louis Blues, and Colorado Avalanche.

McDonald was drafted 107th overall in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Prior to his professional career, he played college hockey for Colgate University, where he was a Hobey Baker Award finalist in 1999.

McDonald made his NHL debut with the Mighty Ducks in the 2000–01 season. He was a key member of the Anaheim Ducks' 2007 Stanley Cup-winning team, playing alongside Teemu Selänne and Chris Kunitz on a highly effective scoring line.

In 2007, McDonald was traded to the St. Louis Blues. He quickly established himself as a top offensive player for the Blues and served as an alternate captain.

He was traded to the Colorado Avalanche in 2013. Recurring concussion issues ultimately led to his retirement from professional hockey on January 14, 2014.
