Andrew Bruce (bishop)
Andrew Bruce (died 1633) was a Scottish clergyman who served as Bishop of Dunkeld.
Bruce was a son of Robert Bruce of Kinnaird. He was initially minister of Kinnaird and later transferred to Kilrenny. In 1606, he was appointed one of the commissioners to represent the Church of Scotland in Parliament.
On 30 March 1609, Bruce was nominated as Bishop of Dunkeld. He was consecrated on 18 June 1609, succeeding James Nicolson. He held the see until his death in 1633.
While Bishop of Dunkeld, Bruce sat in Parliament. He was involved in various ecclesiastical matters and controversies of the time, including issues related to episcopacy and the governance of the Church of Scotland. His tenure coincided with the ongoing tensions between those who favored a more episcopal structure and those who preferred a Presbyterian model.
