Aki Orr

Aki Orr (אקי אור) was an Israeli journalist, author, and political activist. He was a prominent figure in the Israeli left, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s.

Orr was born in Palestine in 1931 and died in 2013. He was known for his participation in the Matzpen (Compass) organization, a socialist anti-Zionist group that critiqued Israeli policies toward Palestinians and advocated for a socialist transformation of the region. Matzpen was controversial within Israeli society and Orr, along with other members, faced political ostracism and government surveillance.

Orr authored several books and articles analyzing Israeli society, politics, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His writings often challenged mainstream narratives and offered alternative perspectives on the history and future of the region. He remained a vocal critic of Israeli policies throughout his life and continued to advocate for a two-state solution based on social justice and equality.
