AN/APG-83

The AN/APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar (SABR) is a modern active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar system developed by Northrop Grumman. It is designed primarily for integration into legacy fighter aircraft, such as the F-16 Fighting Falcon, as a retrofit upgrade to significantly enhance their radar capabilities. The AN/APG-83 provides improved situational awareness, target tracking, and air-to-air and air-to-ground targeting accuracy compared to older mechanically scanned radars. Key features include simultaneous air-to-air and air-to-ground operation, longer detection ranges, greater track-while-scan capacity, and enhanced electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM) capabilities. The modular design allows for easier maintenance and future upgrades. It is a key component in various F-16 modernization programs around the world.
