Vingtaine du Douet (St John)
The Vingtaine du Douet is one of the three vingtaines of the Parish of St John in Jersey, Channel Islands. Vingtaines are historical administrative subdivisions, originally used for raising militia and collecting taxes. The Vingtaine du Douet, along with the other vingtaines, assists the Connétable (chief officer) of St John in administering the parish. The boundaries of the vingtaine are legally defined, and residents of the Vingtaine du Douet fall under its jurisdiction for certain local matters. Historically, the vingtaine had more significant administrative and legal roles, but its modern function primarily involves local governance support and honorary policing roles.
