Southend East and Rochford (UK Parliament constituency)

Southend East and Rochford is a proposed constituency of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It is scheduled to be first contested at the next general election, which must be held no later than January 2025.

The constituency is being created as a result of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies. It is primarily composed of the eastern portion of the existing Rochford constituency and a small part of the Southend West constituency.

The area covered by the new constituency includes parts of the Borough of Rochford and the City of Southend-on-Sea. The electoral wards involved are subject to the final recommendations of the Boundary Commission for England. Specific areas include, but are not limited to, wards east of Rochford town and those on the eastern fringes of Southend-on-Sea.

The creation of this constituency is intended to address population imbalances that have arisen in the existing constituencies over time and ensure that each Member of Parliament represents a roughly equal number of electors. It is one of several changes being made to parliamentary constituencies across the UK as part of the ongoing review process.
