Novillo

Novillo refers primarily to a young bull, typically between the ages of two and three years, that is about to be used, or is being used, for bullfighting. The term is most commonly used in Spanish-speaking countries, particularly in Spain and Latin America, where bullfighting is practiced.

The term can also refer to the class of bullfighter who fights these younger bulls. These bullfighters are often referred to as novilleros. A novillero is essentially an apprentice bullfighter, gaining experience and demonstrating their skills before moving on to fight more mature and challenging bulls. The bullfight itself, when featuring novillos and novilleros, is called a novillada.

The term "novillo" can also be used more generally to describe a young, inexperienced male bovine animal, even outside of the bullfighting context. However, its primary and most culturally significant usage remains linked to the practice of bullfighting.
