Lammtarra

Lammtarra was a highly successful Thoroughbred racehorse, known for his impressive performances in the 1995 racing season. Bred by Godolphin Racing and trained by Saeed bin Suroor, Lammtarra achieved notable victories in three of Europe's most prestigious races: The Derby, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

His career was remarkably brief, encompassing only four races. He won his debut race, a maiden at Newmarket, before embarking on his Classic campaign. Lammtarra's Derby victory was particularly noteworthy, as he was an unconsidered outsider in the field. He followed this up with a dominant performance in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, defeating older, more experienced horses. His final race, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp, saw him secure a decisive victory, cementing his reputation as a top-class racehorse.

Following his Arc triumph, Lammtarra was retired to stud. While he did sire some winners, he did not achieve the same level of success as a stallion that he did as a racehorse. He died relatively young, further limiting his impact on the breed. Despite his short career and less-than-stellar stud record, Lammtarra remains a celebrated figure in racing history, remembered for his exceptional talent and his stunning victories in the summer of 1995.
