Keningau (federal constituency)
Keningau is a federal constituency in Sabah, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Dewan Rakyat (the lower house of the Malaysian Parliament) since 1971.
The constituency was created in 1969 and first contested in the 1971 general election. It is located within the interior division of Sabah and covers areas surrounding the town of Keningau.
The parliamentary seat is currently held by Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Jeffrey Gapari Kitingan of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition. He won the seat in the 2018 general election and retained it in the 2022 general election.
Historically, the constituency has been represented by various political parties including but not limited to: Sabah United Party (PBS), United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), and Homeland Solidarity Party (STAR). The demographics of the constituency are primarily made up of indigenous groups. The electorate size varies from election to election. Key issues in the constituency often revolve around infrastructure development, indigenous land rights, and economic opportunities for local communities.
