John Whitford (judge)
John Whitford was a judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. He was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on May 17, 1979, and confirmed by the United States Senate on July 12, 1979. He received his commission on July 13, 1979. He assumed senior status on July 31, 1995, and served in that capacity until his death on November 14, 1999.
Whitford received a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1949 and an LL.B. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1954. Prior to his judicial appointment, he practiced law privately in Madison, Wisconsin. He also served as a special counsel to the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
