James Street railway station (Liverpool Overhead Railway)

James Street railway station was a station on the Liverpool Overhead Railway, located in Liverpool, England. It opened on 6 March 1893, as one of the original stations on the line. It was situated on the elevated viaduct section of the railway, close to the Pier Head and the commercial district.

The station was named after James Street, a prominent street in Liverpool's city centre, located nearby. Its primary function was to serve passengers travelling to and from the docks, businesses, and other transport links within the city. The station provided convenient access to the city's commercial heartland, making it a popular stop for commuters and business travelers.

The station comprised two platforms serving the northbound and southbound lines. Like other stations on the Overhead Railway, it featured a distinctive architectural style, characterized by its wrought iron structure and elevated platform.

James Street railway station closed, along with the rest of the Liverpool Overhead Railway, on 30 December 1956, due to the deteriorating condition of the track and infrastructure and the high costs of repair. The station was subsequently demolished, and no physical remains of the station are visible today.
