Han Guang (politician)
Han Guang (simplified Chinese: 韩光; traditional Chinese: 韓光; pinyin: Hán Guāng) (born December 1930, died December 16, 2003) was a Chinese politician. He served as the Minister of Construction of the People's Republic of China from 1982 to 1988.
Born in Wuqiao County, Hebei Province, Han Guang joined the Communist Party of China in 1945. He held various positions within the construction and urban planning sectors throughout his career, including roles at the municipal level before ascending to national leadership.
As Minister of Construction, Han Guang was instrumental in implementing policies aimed at modernizing China's infrastructure and urban development. His tenure coincided with a period of rapid economic growth and urbanization, and his ministry played a critical role in managing the expansion of cities and the construction of new housing and infrastructure projects. He was known for advocating for planned urban development and emphasizing the importance of environmental protection in construction projects.
Following his time as Minister of Construction, Han Guang served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). He remained involved in policy discussions related to construction and urban planning until his death.
Han Guang was a delegate to the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He is remembered as a key figure in China's urban development during the early reform era.
