HMS Sluys (D60)

HMS Sluys (D60) was a Battle-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. Built by Swan Hunter, she was launched on 29 March 1944 and commissioned on 26 July 1946. The name commemorates the Battle of Sluys, a naval battle fought in 1340 during the Hundred Years' War.

Sluys served in various peacetime roles following her commissioning, including deployments to the Mediterranean and participation in fleet exercises. She was paid off in 1960 and subsequently sold for scrap.

The Battle-class destroyers were designed as an improvement on the preceding Weapon class. They were intended for fleet support and anti-aircraft defense. They were armed with 4.5-inch guns in twin turrets and a variety of anti-aircraft weaponry.
